Abstract

Background: The Central bureau of Statistics (BPS) released the latest data the total population of Indonesia. The number of poor in Indonesia stood at 27.73 million people, or reach 10.96% of the overall population. Based on the results of Susenas text by BPS and Pusdatin Ministry of Social stated there are 94,674 street children in Indonesia. Survey of punk community showed that most of them had tattoos and piercing to show their body image Methods: This Research was a quantitative research. The design used in this research was cross sectional. The population in this study amounted to 32 respondents. The sample used was the entire population that were a total of 32 respondents with the total sampling technique. Results: the study showed most of the respondents had tattoo with the number of 21 respondents (75%). The body image of the punk community is largely negative as many as 18 respondents (85.7% of). Statistical test results obtained p-value = 0,014 (≤0,05). Conclusion: then there is the relationship of action installation of a tattoo with the picture of the body image on the punk community in the city of Semarang. Recommendation: Health workers shoud give education regarding the effect of tattoo for their health, while their parents should trigger their self-esteem in early age. For the upcoming researcher, they should search the genetic, subjective, and psycho-social factors and existential status that can effect body image.
