Abstract

Background: The increase in the poverty rate that delivers the Indonesian nation in a very complex problem, making the emergence of the existence and development of street children. Street children in running perananya prone to experience problems of violence, rudeness, unfairness and uncertainty. Therefore, it does not rule out the street children experiencing stress within him. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the psychosocial coping mechanisms in the face of stress on street children in Johar Market, Semarang. Methods: The design used in this study is qualitative phenomenology. Informants in this study consists of 4 people taken using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected by in-depth interviews (in-depth interview). The data were processed using a model Coalizzi. Results: The results of this study indicate that 1) Sources of stress in participants came from both environmental and economic difficulties or school environment sekitar.2 environmental) stress reactions when a participant described the stress and anxiety disorders kognitif..3) stress response is the response obtained maladaptive response that includes passive aggressive response to environmental and physiological responses to the environment while the diraskan participants include physical complaints such as pusing.4) type that participants used coping maladaptive coping and coping adaptif.5) Source coping obtained from participants that support social and motivation given to friends of participants.
